In Colorado, Deputy Michael Gregorek is being celebrated as a hero for his swift and courageous actions that saved a dog from a fiery car. On January 22, Deputy Gregorek responded to a call about a vehicle engulfed in flames.
When he arrived he found a man facing his worse nightmare. His car was on fire and he was frantically trying to free his dog, Hank, from his SUV. Without hesitation, Deputy Gregorek lunged towards the burning car, smashing windows trying to find the dog that was hidden by thick smoke. As he smashes the rear window Hank the dog appears drooling after inhaling smoke. His owner manages to pull him out of the smoke filled car to safety.
The dramatic rescue was captured on video and shared by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, showcasing the deputy’s bravery. The car could have exploded at any time but he showed no fear and knew how important a dog’s life can be.
Once out of danger, Hank showed his gratitude in the best way a dog knows how—by showering his rescuer with thankful licks to the face.
This heartwarming moment has touched many, highlighting the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions, and the lengths to which first responders will go to save lives.
