Today it rained all day long and the temperature dropped from 37 degrees right down to 13 degrees over the past day or two. When I drove to feed the dogs at the first location the puppies appeared quickly and were clearly hungrier than usual. This is most of their first experiences of both cold and wet weather so it will take them time to adjust to difficult weather days like today.

The picture below is Little fox, a puppy who I think is about 5 or 6 months old. He is very friendly and will come close and sometimes touch my hand. He’s not as tame as his friend Mr Shadow, who’s photo is below but he’s a young and sweet puppy full of live and loving his time as part of a beautiful pack of stray animals.

The black puppy you can see in the photo above and below is Mr Shadow, he is one of the few stray dogs who will sometimes roll on his back for a belly rub. he is a beautiful soul full of love and energy and very trusting. I formed a close bond with Mr Shadow. He loves all his dog friends, especially the alpha dogs of the pack. When they come back to see him his tail doesn’t stop wagging and he shares kisses with all the dogs. It’s amazing to see so much love shared by animals experiencing a challenging life.

This photo is Mr Hairy, he as an adult dog but I have no idea how old he might be. I have been feeding him for several months and first spotted him about one year ago. Mr hairy has a scruffy appearance but is friendly. He won’t come as close as the puppies but he comes closer than most stray dogs will and he is also quite a character. He used to lie down and relax in the middle of a road that cars drove down quite often. He moves out of the way at the last second, maybe his hearing isn’t good.

In summer there is a rainy season but its always well above 30 degrees and rains in short bursts. None of the cats in any location came out tonight, they must have all been sheltering but I put down some bowls of cat food and chicken like you can see in this picture.

Feeding a large number of cats and dogs costs around $250 each month as I buy around 200kg of chicken breasts, 100 eggs, several 5kg bags of dog and cat food, sweet potato, rice and other food items depending on what is available. It takes a lot of time to cycle around and feed them all but it is always worth it when you can help make their life more comfortable, even just a little bit.

If you are able to help in any way please use the donation box below and check back for more updates on the strays on the streets and other cats and dogs we have rescued. Currently, Harley, Ninja and Lumi are looking for their loving forever homes
