Rescued Tiny kitten believes he’s a dog.

Before I share the story of a tiny kitten who believes it’s a dog, with you, I want to share some of my own experiences of how accepting animals can be. Animals, especially dogs and cats, are often very accepting of other animals.

In our experience feeding stray animals here in China, it’s almost always humans the stray animals have to fear. Sometimes rival packs of strays appear. They might growl or hiss a bit but usually they will make friends with different packs. They aren’t looking for conflict, just trying to survive a difficult life.

There is an unspoken respect and love between different stray animals. An openness to new experiences, animals and nature. When I heard about today’s story of a tiny kitten believing he’s a dog, what movie does it make you think of? For us it brought up memories of growing up watching the jungle book. What a great movie that was, full of excitement and some tense moments teaching us about life.

In the jungle book the main character Mowgli, a human, is raised by lots of different animals, who accept him as he is. Mowgli is adopted by Raksha, the mother wolf, and raised as part of her pack. A bear called Baloo teaches him the way’s of the jungle.

A black panther protects Mowgli and a python also helps him in difficult moments. These animals believe Mowgli to be one of them and treat him as such, teaching him how to survive and thrive in the jungle.

The story I want to share with you today is about a beautiful small kitten that’s just been rescued and is being nursed back to health. In his new home is a beautiful dog. As the lady feeds and cares for the kitten so does the family dog.

Watching every step of the way, he’s there befriending and checking up on the kitten. In the video below you’ll see how their friendship blossoms over the first 60 days in his new home. The dog lets the kitten sniff him and they begin to play with each other. As they spend more time together and the kitten grows bigger he even climbs up onto the dog’s back.

Kitty is learning doggy behaviours, rolling around on his back and snuggling up to his new buddy. It’s so cute and heartwarming to see this dog and cat together in such a beautiful video. I wonder whether the kitty now thinks he’s a dog. He’s been brought up by a human and spent most of his time close to a dog.

I think it doesn’t really matter whether he thinks he’s a dog or not, all that matters to him is the special connections he has with the loving people and dog that have become his family and filled his life with love. Watch these beautiful 60 days unfold in the video below.
